Infloressence
DotCom promotions creates a new eCommerce site for Mystery Flights.
We were recently approached by Infloressence CEO Max Dubois and asked if we would develop a website for his Bromeliad Plant Hire company. The brief was simple, develop an online presence to sell and hire Bromeliads to the public. He wanted the customers to be able to choose a plant then a pot and have it go into a shopping cart system. From there it must be a simple process to buy online.
DotCom Promotions worked closely with Max to custom build a system that would accomplish these tasks and more. The first task was to prototype the site so that we were confident the mechanics worked the way we expected and we knew the framework was solid. We next created a look for the company site, gathered shots for product which were then retouched. The static pages were fleshed out and the forms were written.
The next step was to create a content management system (CMS) so that Infloressence's staff could add, edit and delete the product inventory themselves through any browser, using the newly created Administration section. A custom built database was created for both the Plants and Pots inventory that would allow this and an upload engine was created to make uploading product shots painless. Upon upload, the engine automatically resizes the shots to a big pic and a thumbnail for use in the display program and optimises each one for the fastest web loading possible.
It was important that the site accomplished all the coding and technical stuff automatically as there are no I.T. personnel at Infloressence.
We then custom wrote a shopping cart for the site and once that was finalised we hooked it up to a custom built secure online payment gateway. We chose eMatters (ematters.com.au) to handle the transactions because of the wonderful work that Chris Dwyer has done in making the hookup painless and inexpensive. eMatters also have the perfect plans for small, medium and large organisations. Chris Dwyer and eMatters fit this project perfectly.
The site has two fully functional databases that feed the display program so it is a very fast loading page compared to most other cart programs. It is dynamically produced so it is simple to add new pots and plants to it. You can add a new plant in about 30 seconds (depending on how fast you type) and add another 15 seconds to upload the photo.
The shopping cart is very easy to use and customers are loving it. It has all the features that you would expect along with the ability to add up and display the GST component. It is a very smart cart program that does everything for you automatically from start to finish, right down to taking the money out of the customers account, depositing it into Infloressence's account and delivering the supply/shipping details straight to the fulfillment desk by email. From customers click to delivery, without Infloressence having to do a thing, 100% completely automated.
